Danglepod is one common name for Sesbania herbacea, an annual, weedy native plant in the pea (Fabaceae) family. Found throughout the southern and southwestern North America, this plant also is known by the names bigpod sesbania, coffee-weed, and Colorado river hemp.

This fast-growing annual grows in semi-shade or bright sun and is usually found in disturbed places including the Audubon House construction site pictured above. Like many legumes this plant fixes nitrogen and is not especially picky about soil fertility.

Its yellow flowers are not nearly as showy as the long, dangling pods.
