David, the (Florida East Coast) Diamondback Terrapin!

Dr. Jon Moore, Florida Atlantic University Professor of Biology, asked the 2015 FMEL-PIAS volunteer class to be on the lookout for Florida East coast diamondback terrapin (Malaclemys terrapin tequesta) and sent pictures (above & below) of the David, the Florida east coast diamondback terrapin ‘housed’ at the Brevard Zoo.

Check out that neck!

If you see a diamondback terrapin in the coastal wetlands at the Oslo Riverfront Conservation Area or elsewhere, please report it, preferably with photos & GPS coordinates: HAVE YOU SEEN ME BZ Flyer(1).
