Nancy Soucy (Class of 2010) led the last walk of the 2016 Season for the Indian River Land Trust at their Toni Robinson Waterfront Trail on Saturday, 4-2-2016. Nancy is pictured in the center of the group photo taken by Ken Gonyo (Class of 2012).
Nancy shared this beautiful photograph of a white peacock butterfly …
She also sent a photograph of seaside scorpion tail (Heliotropium curvassicum) …
Note the “scorpion tail” shape of the flowers. Its linear leaves are succulent. This pollinator-attracting plant is quite sturdy and resilient, as you can see from this photograph below taken on a mosquito control dike at Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge.
Not a mangrove buckeye..that is a white peacock! Lol….

By the way, this was the last walk at TRWT for IRLT for the season. We still have several IRLT walks scheduled, one at Lagoon Greenway this coming Friday and one birding tour at Bee Gum this month. Maybe Ken can send you more info.
